Juhi Chawla was born in Ambala in Haryana. Her father was an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) . Juhi completed her schooling from Fort Convent School Mumbai and graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai with a specialization in Human Resources. She was also the winner of the Miss India title in 1984 followed by an award for the Best Costume for Miss Universe in the same year.. Juhi Chawla is an accomplished dancer and has learnt Kathak for three years and regrets giving it up as she believes it would have helped her in her career as an actress. She is also an accomplished classical singer and has been trained for six years. Juhi Chawal has a brother and she married Jai Mehta an Industrialist in 1998 and has two kids . She did her debut film Sultanat and her first biggest hit in Bollywood in 1993 was 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' and later won an Award for her role in the film, ' Hum Hai Rahi Pyar ke . Juhi turned producer and became the co-owner of the production company called the Dreamz Unlimited with Shahrukh Khan and Director Aziz Mirza.

Juhi Chawla has worked predominantly in Hindi films in addition to Punjabi, Malayalm, Kannada, Tamil , Telegu and Bengali. A leading actress of Bollywood in the late 1980's and 1990's and stayed on in the film industry till the beginning of 2000. Juhi has garnered praise particularly for her comic roles and her vivacious on-screen persona.

Juhi Chawla made her entry and debut in the film ' Sultanat' in 1986 . She acted in Kannada classic film Premaloka which became a Blockbuster upon its release, Juhi Chawla's performance was well received by the audience and the critics alike and she got her first major break in the HIndi Film with the highly successful tragic romantic film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (QSQT) in 1988 for which she won the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. She went on to establish herself as a leading actress of Hindi Cinema with the films that followed .. She is an actress with natural poise , is vivacious and is wonderfully in subtle in many ways. Her childlike and determination created a phenomenon that made people crazy about her charming role in the film QSQT. The film went to attain a cult status with the entertainment portal Bollywood Hangama Crediting it as a ' Path Breaking and Trend Setting film ' for Indian Cinema. Some of the films that she has acted are in Swarg in 1990, Pratibandh in 1990,, Bol Radha Bol in 1992, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman in 1992, Lootere in 1993, Aaina in 1993, Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke in 1993 for which she won the Best Actress Award from Filmfare Awards. She did films like ' Darr' in 1993, Deewana Mastana in 1997 , Yes Boss in 1997 and Ishq . In 2000s Juhi began working with independent filmmakers in Art-House projects and her work received appreciation for the films she acted such as Jhankaar Beats in 2003, 3 Deewarein in 2003, My Brother Nikhil in 2005, Bas Ke Pal in 2006, I am in 2011 and Gulaab Gang in 2014. Juhi Chawla shed her girl next door image with the film Lootere and transformed herself in the Bollywood sex siren with Main Teri Rani Tu Raja Mera song. She stole the show as her acting is considered as flawless and her screen presence coupled with her beauty made her one of the most popular film actress in that year. Her next release as the coy sister of the firebrand Amrita Singh in the film Aaina co-starring with Jackie Shroff. was a big hit at the Box office solidifying Juhu's position not only in the film but also in the Film Industry. Juhi Chawla did versatile roles from a coy charming girl she had delivered an excellent comic performance in the film ' Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke' and she is still remembered for her role in this film. Her next film got her in another league with the famous dialogue by Shahruk Khan ... and was highly desired ... by her fans on the one line' K...K...K.. Kiran" which she and Shahrukh Khan are highly desired as a pair . Her fragile looks are very natural and so does her character in each film gradually transforms in to the role she is playing whether it's a naturally a role of a smart and sophisticated woman or her childlike innocence in the films she has worked in. Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla gave best performances together and they have proved to be a great on screen pair. Though Aamir Khan is effective in a suitably restrained performance in this film but it is Juhi Chawla who clearly steals the show with her comic roles and is considered to be one of the funniest actor in the history of the Indian Cinema. Her last release of the year was Yash Chopra's romantic thriller' Darr' with Shahrukh Khan and Sunny Deol. The film went to become a blockbuster upon its release and was one of the highest grossing films of the year making it Chawla's fourth consecutive box office hit of that year. Darr was a major critical success winning several awards in every category. Her performance as Kiran a girl caught up between one man's love and other man's obsession was widely appreciated and to date remains as one of her most memorable performances . Juhi Chawla as an actress is sensuous, Seductive, Gorgeous, Cute, Vulnerable and every bit of a Dream Girl . In Yes Boss, Deewana Mastana and Ishq Ishq all of which became the top earners of the year and achieved the block buster status . In the comedy Deewana Mastana, Juhi Chawla is impeccable in her acting and in this film she wears garishly coloured and designed outfits that gives her a look to kill. ! In the entire film people have noticed her for her attire and looks . Her next release of the year Mr and Mrs. Khiladi with Akshay Kumar the film turned out to do average at the Box Office but Juhi's role received immense appreciation, as she dominates the show with her performance. In 1998 she did one more film with Shahrukh Khan in Duplicate . The film underperformed at the Box Office upon its release . However Juhi Chawla won appreciation for her performance . She and Shahrukh Khan share an onscreen chemistry and they together make a sweet couple . In the same year she starred opposite to Anil Kapoor in Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate . Her performance was much appreciated by the audience and critics alike. No matter what the role is , she has carried her role with her inevitable chirpiness and looks very good in every film that she has done till date. In most of her films though the costars are established super Stars too she clearly overshadows the Hero of her film with her brilliant performance . Juhi makes the best of what she is given. Between the years 2000 to 2009, Juhi was seen doing independent films as well as Art Films and her work in the genre included critical acclaim. Juhi Chawla has appeared in several non-Hindi language films. she has appeared in various Punjabi films . In the beginning of her career, she acted in Kannada films which included the success of her film Premaloka and went on to do more films which were unsuccessful . She has acted with the popular Kannada actor Ravichandran in the three films that she did in this regional language. In 2011, she and Manisha Koirala did a film ' I Am' unfolded in several chapters, its a delight to watch Juhi and Manisha both delivering a striking performance and even getting the language right. For this film Juhi was awarded the Best Actress Award at the 13th London Asian Film Festival for her Excellence in the Hindi Cinema at the Asiavision Movie Awards. Her comeback after a sabbatical for the woman-oriented film ' Gulaab Gang' with Madhuri Dixit. This was the first time in her long career that she played a role of an antagonist and her villainous avatar overpowers Madhuri Dixit role in this film . Juhi Chawla is always a delight to watch and is known for her angelic roles , playing a mean evil woman and she shines in her role opposite to the Dhak Dhak Girl Madhuri Dixit with whom she shared her screen persona in one frame for this film.
